Dr. Regina Llopis is the co-founder, investor, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Group AIA since 1988 and EleQuant, Inc. since 2001. She leads strategy and expansion activities of all the group technology driven companies in the Software Consultancy and Engineering in IT arena, providing complex problems solutions to mainly the Energy, Banking, Telecom and Health Industries. She has a total of 40 years of experience: eleven in academia and 29 in industry.

Dr. Llopis holds a BS in Mathematics (with High Honors and Honors in Math) from the University of Maryland and a PhD in Applied Mathematics in Artificial Intelligence from University of California at Berkeley. She has directed 5 Bachelor Thesis in Computer Science Engineering and 2 Magister Thesis in Computer Science. Dr. Llopis is author of more than 10 publications, of which the three most relevant are cited below.

As CEO, Dr. Llopis leads AIA and EleQuant in their central task of converting data and information into useful knowledge for clients’ decision making processes. An entrepreneur by nature, she has made Group AIA a showcase for efficiently and effectively transferring basic science to industry. She has led the creation of an intellectual property (IP) portfolio and the establishment of subsidiaries in the US, Mexico and India. Among her achievements:

 Developed and commercialized the AGORA energy grid monitoring strategic product based on the HELM™-FLOW method.  Using IP in the form of algorithms for music, video and film recommendation, created PHMI, allowing future leadership potential in the on-line music industry. Designed the structure of PHMI’s US subsidiary MIS as well as the complex IP transfer process with considerations for taxes and ownership issues with a global team of law firms and IP valuation experts.  Built an international client base for AIA’s energy technology products, such as management of electrical grids, river basin generation optimization and market strategies in bidding energy. Active international relationships include Pacific Gas and Electric Company, with around 20 million clients and Comisión Federal de Electricidad, the national grid owner and operator of México, which provides electricity to a population of 90 million.  Built a similarly international client base for AIA’s banking and security products, including antimony laundering intelligent monitoring software and optimal distribution and money transport algorithms for automatic teller machines (ATMs) and bank branches. AIA supports more than fifty banking institutions in Spain, Portugal and Mexico.  Led AIA participation in European Union funded projects such as iTESLA (to build a set of network analysis tools oriented to safer real-time Pan-European network operation), PREEMPTIVE (to provide an innovative solution for enhancing existing procedures and methods and conceiving tools to prevent cyber attacks against utility companies) and RAIN (to develop a systematic risk management framework that explicitly considers the impacts of extreme weather events on critical infrastructure and develops mitigation tools).  Led AIA new Business Unit creation and growth into a Top Notch Data Analytics team in the Big Data out sourcing Arena.

Dr. Llopis is 2017 recipient of the Ada Byron Award to Women Technologist in Spain granted by the University of Duesto.

Dr. Llopis serves as a Board member for numerous companies and organizations, including EleQuant, EQKIDS, KDP, the European Indian Chamber of Commerce, the Barcelona Institute for Entrepreneurship (University of Barcelona).
