Overview : An EnergyTech event exclusive at the fabulous IX center – October 25, 2019
…the EnergyTech program in 2019 is pleased to host a NEW CLASS of attendees – DRONES.
SPECIAL PROGRAM: Drone Pilot training class in prep for FAA license test
Preceding the drone active demonstration, an expert panel discussion & presentations on Drone will cover:
- Legal and license requirements for drone operations.
- Current capabilities in the ever expanding application and demand of drone applications. Specific capabilities of Commercial Drones to be covered include:
- public safety,
- search and rescue,
- hazardous area inspections,
- grid inspection,
- fossil fuel well inspections,
- agriculture,
- fire fighting,
- military/defense and other critical services.
- Various sensors and apparatus available today for enhanced drone applications – such as organ delivery, crop pollination and whale health monitoring will be discussed.
Modern technology Drones will be on display, and drone pilots will actively participate in a series of demonstrations and competitive events inside the spacious facilities of the IX center.
- Over 10,000 square feet, with ceiling height over 35 feet will be allocated to flying drones through a series of obstacles for demonstration, competitive events and prizes.
- Numerous hobby and commercial drones will be on static display
- Professional drone pilots will be demonstrating drone capabilities and maneuvers with video feeds projected onto display screens
- Audience viewing will be through protective netting
- Competitive time trials will be conducted with supervision (Drones provided – Registration Required)..
- Fly the Tiny Whoops drones – navigate through a series of obstacles for fastest time
- First Prize includes a modern drone & control unit (approx $200 value).
Background: Modern Drone technology has evolved at a rapid pace to yield significant benefits in multiple domains and segments of our society. They are contributing vital functions to many areas of our critical infrastructure. There is also a growing concern over misuse and safety considerations.
Who should attend – Drone enthusiasts, professionals who work with drones, educators, technology experts, safety & security, agriculture, drone hobbyists, competitors, risk managers, etc…
EnergyTech Drone Program Elements / Details:
- Several drones setup as static models
- Some are able to be handled by the spectators
- Some are not able to be handled by the spectators
- Mike Hanna and Kent Iler – presentation on History and Future of Drones (30 min)
- Kent Iler – Tello EDU demonstration with programmed/autonomous/AI flight (15 min)
- Cleveland Quad Squad – (1-2 Tiny Whoop drones; FPV Goggles; timed test for flying through course – best time(s) for the day receive prize; Entry fee for competing and prizes TBA.
- Other Options:
- Live Feed from Drone to projection screens via HDMI out
- Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual (Small Drone – Thermal and Standard cameras) – Scott Mlakar
- Inspire 2 (Large Drone) – Mike Hanna, Kent Iler, or Scot Mlakar
- DJI Robomaster S1 robot – could follow preprogrammed path or line on the ground. Demonstrate Mecanum wheels – allows it to drive sideways.
